Navigating through COVID-19

The health and well-being of our partners and customers remains top of mind and our highest priority.

We can confirm that one Starbucks partner (employee) tested positive for COVID-19 on March 22, after attending a wedding party in Discovery Bay on March 14 where a confirmed case was present. The partner is in a managerial position and mainly visits stores for inspection, therefore does not have direct contact with customers. Following the latest guidance from the government, when made aware of the confirmed case, we immediately closed six stores that the partner had visited for deep clean and sanitization: Shatin Fortune City One, Shatin New Town Plaza Phase 1, Shatin HomeSquare, Mui Wo and the two stores located near gate 2 and 11 at the departures level of Hong Kong International Airport.

The partner is now undergoing treatment. Partners who worked in close contact with the affected partner are required to conduct self-quarantine.

We are taking appropriate actions across all stores to safeguard our partners’ and customers’ health and well-being, including regular sanitization and cleaning of our stores and equipment, provision of hand sanitizer to our customers, temporary suspension of the Bring Your Own Tumbler program, and more. Partners are also required to wear surgical masks, wash their hands every 30 minutes while on shift and measure their temperature twice per shift.
