The Starbucks name and reputation were built on a foundation of trust. This Starbucks Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Coffee Concepts (Hong Kong) Limited and Coffee Concepts (Macau) Limited, authorized licensees of Starbucks Corporation in Hong Kong and Macau respectively, (referred to as "Starbucks" below) use and disclose personal information of customers collected through our websites and online services, including Starbucks.com.hk, Starbucks Hong Kong Mobile Application, and other Starbucks owned or operated websites and online services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Sites”), through our programs and in our physical Starbucks stores ("Services"). This Policy does not apply to websites and services that display or link to different privacy statements. Websites and services co-branded with other partners may display or link to a joint privacy statement or separate privacy statements of our partners in addition to our Policy. By accessing the Sites or utilising the Services, you hereby consent to the use of your information, including your personal information, any information of others provided by you, in the manner described in this Policy. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you authorise Starbucks to transmit your information outside Hong Kong and/or Macau in the manner and for the purposes described in this Policy.


What Type of Information Does the Company Collect?

Personal Information that may be collected by the Company may include:

Name, postal address, phone number and e-mail address.

Financial account information, such as credit card number and other payment information.


    We may also collect information about you such as:

    If you create an account - your username, password, your city of birth, your birthday and mobile phone number. 

    If you buy goods at our stores or through our programs or otherwise - what you buy, where you buy, how frequently you buy and rewards you earn.

    If you buy and send any Starbucks eGift – name and e-mail address of the recipient you selected from your phonebook; and you accept all liabilities in relation to the provision of such information to us for forwarding the eGift in accordance with your instruction.

    If you register any Starbucks Card – the card number, card transactions, including activating the Starbucks Card, loading value to the Starbucks Card, redeeming any value, balance transfer, balance enquiries.

    If you use our mobile applications to buy goods using a ‘Starbucks Card’ - information such as your device ID, your location and stores near you and visited by you may be collected.

    If you take a survey or interact with us in various other ways - demographics information and information about subjects that may interest you.


    Automatic data collection via Cookies and Web Beacons

    We may automatically collect website use information when you visit our Sites. This information may include information about your Internet service provider, your operating system, browser type, domain name, Internet protocol (IP) address, your access times, the website that referred you to us, the Web pages you request, and the date and time of those requests. Our collection of website use information may involve the use of cookies and Web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive by a website. Among other things, cookies help us improve our Sites and your experience. We use cookies to see which areas and features are popular and to count visits to our Sites. Web beacons are electronic images that may be used on our Sites or in our emails. We use Web beacons to deliver cookies, count visits, understand usage and campaign effectiveness and to tell if an email has been opened and acted upon.     How Does Starbucks Use Information About You and Others that you provided?

    We may use information about you for purposes described in this Policy or disclosed to you on our Sites or with our Services. For example, we may use information about you to:


    Process and manage your purchase and use of our products and services, including your accounts and program participation.

    Respond to your customer service inquiries, post your comments or statements on any blog or other online forum maintained on our Sites, or take other actions in response to your inquiries or other Site activities.

    Create personalized promotions by combining your personal information with non personal information about you, such as the amounts and types of purchases you make or any benefits you receive through our programs.

    Communicate with you about your orders or purchases, your services, accounts and program participation, a contest or sweepstakes you have entered, and your requests for information.

    Communicate with you about our brands, products, events or other promotional purposes, including co-branded offers and affiliate and partner offers.


    The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside Hong Kong/Macau.


    Does Starbucks Share Personal Information or Information of Others that you provided with Third Parties?

    The Company shares your personal information in limited ways, such as:


    We may share personal information about you with others with your consent.

    We may share information with Starbucks Corporation and its subsidiaries and licensees and our parent and other affiliated companies.

    We may also share information with companies that provide support services to us (such as credit card processors or other payment services providers, mailing houses or website hosts) and that help us market our products and services (such as email vendors). These companies may use information about you to perform their functions on our behalf.

    We may disclose specific information (i) upon lawful request, in response to legal process, and when required to comply with laws, (ii) to enforce our agreements with you, our corporate policies and terms of use relating to your use of Starbucks products and services through the Sites or the Services, or (iii) to protect the rights, property or safety of Starbucks and affiliates, Starbucks Corporation and its subsidiaries and licensees, our employees, agents, customers, and others but only when it is reasonable to do so.

    If you participate in any blog or other online forum on our Sites, any personal information that you post on our Sites may be shared with other forum participants and Site visitors.

    In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets or any other situation involving the transfer of some or all of our business assets, Starbucks may disclose customers statistics to those involved in the negotiation or personal information after the transfer.


    We may also share aggregated or anonymized information that does not directly identify you.


    What Choices Does Starbucks Offer About Personal Information?

    Starbucks offers choices for you to request to access, update or change your personal information and how we communicate with you. Here are some of the ways you can request changes:


    Follow the opt-out instructions in promotional emails we send you or contact Starbucks Hong Kong/Macau data privacy officer below.

    Log in to your Starbucks.com.hk account, if you have one, and visit the profile management section to manage your contact information (SMS text, email and postal address) preferences and to update your personal information.

    Starbucks eGift recipient cannot request access to information you provided until and unless the recipient registers the Starbucks eGift for redemption via Starbucks account.

    You can usually choose to set your browser to warn you when a cookie is being sent or to remove or reject cookies. If you choose to remove or reject cookies, it will affect many features or Services on our Sites.

    Starbucks will not retain your personal information one year after termination of your account or Starbucks Card and such information will be erased thereafter. Information of others that you provided will be erased upon the termination of the purpose for which you provided such information.

    1.1.    This privacy policy ("Policy") describes how Coffee Concepts (Hong Kong) Limited and Coffee Concepts (Macau) Limited, authorized licensees of Starbucks Corporation in Hong Kong and Macau respectively, and their parent and other affiliated companies (collectively referred to as "Starbucks", “we” and “us” below) collect, use and disclose personal information of customers through our websites and online services, including www.starbucks.com.hk (“Starbucks Website”), Starbucks Hong Kong Mobile Application (“Mobile App”), other Starbucks owned or operated websites, applications, and online services that we may operate such as the Starbucks Online Store (“Online Store”) (collectively, the "Sites"), as well as through our programs and in our physical stores ("Services"). This Policy does not apply to websites and services that display or link to different privacy statements.     2.    What Types of Information Does Starbucks Collect?

    2.1.    Personal Information that may be collected by Starbucks may include:
    (a)    Name, home address, mobile phone number and e-mail address.
    (b)    Payment details, such as credit card number, cardholder name, expiry date of the credit card, CVC number .

    2.2.    We may also collect information about you such as:
    (a)    If you create an Starbucks Rewards (“SR”) account - your username, password, , Hong Kong or Macau mobile phone number, email address, Starbucks Card number, card security code, birthday month, name, physical address.
    (b)    If you buy goods on the Online Store, at our physical stores, through our programs or otherwise - what you buy, where you buy, how frequently you buy, rewards you earn , and reward you redeem 
    (c)     if you buy and send any Starbucks eGift - name and e-mail address of the recipient you selected from your phonebook; and you accept all liabilities in relation to the provision of such information to us for forwarding the eGift in accordance with your instruction.
    (d)    If you register any Starbucks Card - the card number, card transactions, including activating the Starbucks Card, loading value to the Starbucks Card, redeeming any value, balance transfer, balance enquiries.
    (e)    If you use our mobile applications - information such as your device ID, your location and stores near you and visited by you may be collected.
    (f)    If you take a survey or interact with us in various other ways - demographics information, your comments, feedback, questions or suggestions, and information about subjects that may interest you.
    (g)    If you link your SR account with your yuu account – your mobile phone number you registered for your yuu account and yuu id.

    2.3.    Starbucks stores in Hong Kong and Macau are monitored by closed circuit television cameras which record photographic and videographic images of persons in and around the stores.

    2.4.    We may automatically collect online use information when you visit our Sites or use our Services. This information may include information about your Internet service provider, your operating system, browser type, domain name, Internet protocol (IP) address, your access times, the website that referred you to us, the Web pages you request, and the date and time of those requests. Our collection of online use information may involve the use of cookies and Web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive by a website.     You agree to provide your personal information to us voluntarily. Without the above information, we may not be able to provide you with the requested product or services, processing such application or order, or responding to your enquiry.


    3.    How Does Starbucks Use Information About You?

    3.1.    Starbucks may use information about you for purposes described in this Policy or disclosed to you on our Sites or with our Services. For example, we may use information about you:
    (a)    To process, manage, administer, and/or facilitate any purchase, delivery, payment, use of Starbucks products and services, support and improve our loyalty programs (such as Starbucks® Rewards), deliver gift cards or e-gifts, and any associated personalized messages, in accordance with your instructions  whether through the Online Store, our physical stores, the Mobile App, or our various programs.
    (b)    To process and/or administer any product or service-related inquiries, consultations, negotiations, orders, deliveries, warranties or provide customer support in relation to the purchase of our products, services, or other Site activities.
    (c)    To manage, operate, provide and/or administer your use of and/or access to the Sites, including the Starbucks Website, Online Store, the Mobile App, or any accounts you may have with us, such as remembering your account preferences, purchase history and making of payments online; facilitate the functionality of the Sites and Mobile App;
    (d)     To customize experiences and personalization when you are in and around our stores, if you have given permission for location sharing.  
    (e)    To create personalized promotions by combining your personal information with non-personal information about you, such as the amounts and types of purchases you make or any benefits you receive through the Online Store, the Mobile App, physical stores, or our programs.
    (f)    To communicate with you by post, telephone, email, SMS, and/or through your Starbucks Card account and/or your Mobile App (including but not limited to any in-app messaging services) about your orders or purchases, your services, accounts and program participation, a contest or sweepstakes you have entered, and your requests for information.
    (g)     To communicate with you about our brands, products, events or other promotional purposes, including co-branded offers and affiliate and partner offers.
    (h)    For internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing functionality, research and development and service improvement.
    (i)     to ensure our terms, policies, and agreements with you and any third parties are enforced.
    (j)     to process certain information under certain laws and regulations, as well as to maintain appropriate records for internal administrative purposes; and comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations, and respond to lawful governmental requests, as needed. 
    The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside Hong Kong/Macau.

    3.2.    If you have registered as a member and if you have opted-in to receive marketing messages from us, we may use the personal information you have provided to us to send you marketing promotions/offers and exclusive member events by post, telephone, email, SMS and/or through your Starbucks Card account and/or your Mobile App (including but not limited to any in-app messaging services) about our brands, products, events or other promotional purposes, including co-branded offers and affiliate and partner offers. 

    3.3      Direct Marketing 
    (a)    The personal information collected by us may be used for sending and communicating with you offers and promotions provided by us and business partners (such as banks) in joint promotions, including but not limited to those in relation to food and beverage and catering services. We may not so use your personal information for any such purposes unless we have received your consent where and as required by the applicable laws and regulations (which includes an indication of no objection). 

    (b)    We also intend to provide the personal information collected to business partners for use in direct marketing of the above offers and promotions. We may not so provide your personal information to third parties for direct marketing unless we have received your consent where and as required by the applicable laws and regulations.

    4.    Does Starbucks Share Personal Information with Third Parties?

    4.1.    Starbucks may share or disclose your personal information with the following third parties for any of the above-mentioned purposes under Paragraph 3:
    (a)    With our parent and other affiliated entities, our franchisor.
    (b)     With agents, vendors or services providers who provide support services to us (such as delivery or shipping services, credit card processors or other payment services providers, mailing houses or website hosts) and/or other third parties who help us market our products and services and assist us by communicating (directly or indirectly) with our customers (such as email vendors and social media and engagement platforms). These third parties may use information about you to perform their functions on our behalf.
    (c)    If you participate in any blog or other online forum on our Sites, any personal information that you post on our Sites may be shared with other forum participants and Site visitors.
    (d)    In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets or any other situation involving the transfer of some or all of our business assets, Starbucks may disclose personal information to those involved in the negotiation or transfer.
    (e)    With others with your consent.

    4.2.     Starbucks may also provide and/or transfer any data that it collects from you to its parent, subsidiary, associated and affiliated companies, or to any agent, contractor or third party service provider located outside of Hong Kong or Macau which provides administrative, data processing, computer or other services to Starbucks, to enable Starbucks to carry out the purposes permitted under this Policy. 

    4.3.    We may also share or disclose your personal information, including the content of your communications:
    (a)    To comply with law or to respond to legal or regulatory processes or lawful requests, including enquiries from governmental and regulatory agencies.
    (b)    To enforce our agreements, corporate policies, and terms of use.
    (c)    To protect the rights, property, reputation, safety or security of Starbucks, our employees, agents, customers, and others.

    4.4.    We may also share aggregated or anonymized information that does not directly identify you.

    5.    What Choices Does Starbucks Offer About Personal Information?

    5.3    Under and subject to the PDPO and PDP, you have the right to access your personal information held by us and request correction of your personal information.     6.1.    Starbucks takes reasonable steps to maintain appropriate physical, technical and administrative security to reduce the risk of loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure or modification of your personal information.

    6.2.    Where Starbucks provides and/or transfers any data that it collects from you to its parent, subsidiary, associated and affiliated companies, or to any agent, contractor or third party service provider, located outside of Hong Kong or Macau, Starbucks confirms that any of the above-mentioned parties to whom your personal data is disclosed or transferred are, or shall be bound by legally enforceable obligations to provide a standard of protection to personal data comparable to the standard of protection as set out in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance of Hong Kong (“PDPO”) or Personal Data Protection Act of Macau (“PDP”), where applicable, and Starbucks will use its best commercial endeavours to ensure that each such party maintains appropriate physical, technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against tampering and unauthorized access by third parties.

    6.3.    While Starbucks uses reasonable efforts to protect personal data in its possession or under its control, the transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network may be subject to loss, interception and misuse.

    7.    Privacy Policy Update

    7.1.    We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do so, we will post the new privacy policy on this page and change the date at the top of the policy.
