How does the Starbucks Rewards™ program work?

It’s as easy as registering a loaded Starbucks Card at Starbucks.com.hk and paying with your Card at a participating store to earn Stars. You present the registered Starbucks Card when making a Purchase at participating Starbucks stores, the total amount of the Purchase will be recorded in your Starbucks account.
For every HK/MOP$20 of purchases recorded in your Starbucks account, one complimentary "Star" will be recorded in that Starbucks account.

Welcome Level: Upon registering, we will automatically enter you into the Welcome Level of the Starbucks Rewards™ program, which means you will receive the following benefits:

  • One Buy-One-Get-One offer on tall or above-sized drink upon registration (reward is valid for 3 months after date of reward).
  • Free upgrade on tall or above-sized promotional drink during the first week of launch.

Green Level: Once you have visited and paid with your card and accumulated 25 Stars, you will move into our Green Level, where you may receive the following benefits:

  • One free tall drink^ for reaching Green Level for the first time (reward is valid for 3 months after date of reward).
  • Free upgrade on tall or above-sized promotional drink during the first week of launch.
  • One free tall drink^ or a slice of cake in your birthday month (reward is valid for 1 month after date of reward).
  • One free extra espresso shot on any espresso drink purchase.

Gold Level : After you earn 100 Stars in 12 months, you will qualify for the Gold Level. At this level you may earn the following benefits:

  • All Green Level benefits
  • One free tall drink^ for reaching Gold Level for the first time (reward is valid for 3 months after date of reward).
  • One Star Reward for every 25 Stars collected, redeemable for a tall drink^ or a selected food item (reward is valid for 3 months after date of reward).
  • Free upgrade on tall or above-sized promotional drink during the first week of launch.
  • One free tall drink^ or a slice of cake in your birthday month (reward is valid for 1 month after date of reward).
  • One free extra espresso shot on any espresso drink purchase.
  • Exclusive offers just for you.

^Free tall drink reward is not applicable to redeem alcoholic, bottled and canned beverages.

How do I redeem the offers?

Just tell our barista you’d like to redeem your reward and you may scan the barcode on your mobile device or simply present one of your registered Starbucks Cards. Besides, you must fully pay for the transaction (except redeeming free rewards) with your registered Starbucks Card in order to earn or redeem the rewards, reward redemption applicable to Starbucks stores in Hong Kong and Macau, except Hong Kong Disneyland store.

I’m a Gold Level member. What can I redeem for the Star Reward?

Star Reward can be redeemed for a free tall drink (excluding alcoholic, bottled and canned beverages) or a selected food item at Starbucks stores in Hong Kong and Macau (excluding Hong Kong Disneyland store). Selected food items include muffin, scone, danish, bread, toast, puff pastry, pie, quiche, cake and dessert. Food availability may vary between stores. Please ask your barista for more details.

When can I collect Stars for Star Reward?

Once you have reached Gold Level, you can collect Stars for Star Reward starting your next purchase.

Why is registration necessary in order to join the program?

When you register your Starbucks Card, you provide contact information so we can send you benefits like special and exclusive offers. Additionally, by registering your card, you receive balance protection in case your card is ever lost or stolen. Finally, with the registered card, you can manage your card online. Please note: a valid email address, mailing address, birth month and mobile number is required when registering your card.

What is a Star and how do I earn one?

You will earn Stars and receive in-store benefits simply by paying for a transaction at or over HK/MOP$20 with any Starbucks Card registered to your account at participating Starbucks stores in Hong Kong and Macau. You can track your Stars online or on your device by logging into your account.

How are Stars earned?

A Star will be awarded for every HK/MOP$20 you have spent with any of Starbucks stores in Hong Kong and Macau.

Can the Stars in my account be transferred to someone else?

Sorry, Stars collected in each account can only be used by that account holder, and cannot be transferred to another account.

Can I use multiple cards to earn Stars?

Yes. You can register multiple Starbucks cards to earn Stars for one single account.

Can I transfer a Starbucks Rewards™ membership to someone else?

Sorry, memberships are non-transferable and cannot be shared with family members, friends and others.

Is there a fee to join Starbucks Rewards™?

No, there is no membership fee at any level of the new program. All you have to do is register your reloaded Starbucks Card and you will be entered into the program.

Any time-limit in collecting Stars to reach the next level?

The Stars accumulated will be calculated annually on your membership expiry date (the date you qualified for the current level of membership) to determine the level of membership you are in. Stars accumulated will be calculated independently each year.

Do I have to bring my card to earn Stars?

At the moment, you will need to present the card at the time of purchase in order for us to log your Stars. If you have downloaded the mobile app onto your phone, and have signed in using the same email address in which you have registered, you can also make your payment through the app. For details, please go to card.starbucks.com.hk

Why Starbucks does not offer physical personalized Gold Card to members anymore?

We’re moving the personalized gold card experience into your mobile app. Don’t worry, nothing changes with your Stars, Rewards and other benefits of being a Gold tier member.

Where can I find my digital Gold Card?

You may find your digital Gold Card in the Starbucks® Hong Kong app or your Starbucks account. A digital Gold Card will be issued to your Starbucks account once you reached Gold Level.

Is there expiration date on the amount stored in my Starbucks Card?

Starbucks Card balances will expire three years after the date of the last transaction. Any remaining balances on expired Starbucks Cards will be forfeited immediately and without further notice.

How are the Stars used?

The Stars are simply used to determine the level of membership. Please refer to the table below for information on membership level.

Any minimum / maximum value per card?

Unless otherwise specified, the minimum amount required for the initial purchase / activation of the card and enrolment in the Starbucks Rewards™ program is HK/MOP$50.After card activation, the minimum in-store reload amount is HK/MOP$50, whereas the minimum in-app reload amount is HK/MOP$100. The maximum amount that can be stored in each Starbucks Card is HK/MOP$4,000.

What if I lose my Starbucks Card?

If your card is registered, your membership in Starbucks Rewards™ and any remaining card balance will be protected at the time you notify us of its loss. We’ll freeze your remaining balance at the time you report your card as lost or stolen, transfer it to one of your registered cards in your account or a new Starbucks Card and mail you the replacement – without hassles or fees. I lose my Gold Card, how can I replace it?

No physical Gold Card will be issued starting from 1 March 2019. If you have lost your Gold Card, please call customer care in Hong Kong at 2101-1399 or in Macau at 0800-933 or send an email to info@coffee-concepts.com to report a registered card as lost or stolen. Our opening hours are 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. We will issue a new digital Gold Card so you may continue to enjoy Gold Level benefits with your digital Gold Card.

How to change email address?

What if my Star balance doesn’t look right? Who do I contact?

What do I have to do in order to maintain Green Level status?

Once you reach the Green Level, you will need to earn 25 Stars per year to maintain your Green Level status. If you do not earn 25 Stars, you will revert back to the Welcome Level and your Star count will drop to zero. As soon as you earn 25 Stars again you’ll move from Welcome right back to Green.

How do I maintain Gold Level status?

Once you qualify for Gold Level, you will be at that Level for a full year from that date. Simply earn 100 additional Stars before your membership expiry date (the date you earned Gold) and you will continue to enjoy all of the Gold Level benefits for another year.

Are all Starbucks Card eligible for Starbucks Rewards™ benefits?

All registered Starbucks Cards are eligible. Cards purchased or registered outside of Hong Kong or Macau will not earn Stars or Starbucks Rewards™ benefits.

Can the card be refunded?

Any amount/value stored in your card cannot be refunded.

How do I check remaining value?

You can log into your account via card.starbucks.com.hk. You can also top-up your card through our website. Alternatively, you can also download our mobile app and through it you will also be able to see the remaining values on your card.

Can I view my transaction history?

You can view your transaction history through our website card.starbucks.com.hk or download our mobile app and access it in your Account Transaction History. Only purchases paid by Starbucks Card will be displayed in your Account Transaction History.

Where is my receipt if one wasn’t printed for my transaction?

You can check the transaction records of your registered Starbucks Cards in the Starbucks® Hong Kong app (Account Transaction History) or website (My Profile). The detail is the same as the printed receipt.

To support environmental protection, all Starbucks Rewards™ accounts will be defaulted to receive electronic receipts. You can switch on "Printed Receipt" in the Starbucks® Hong Kong app or "My Profile" on website if necessary.

After I have chosen to print physical receipt, can I check transaction history in Starbucks app?

Yes, you can check all transaction records of your registered Starbucks Card in Account Transaction History in Starbucks® Hong Kong app.

Can I view my list of rewards?

You can view your transactions history through our website card.starbucks.com.hk or download our mobile app and through it you will also be able to view your list of rewards.

How can I transfer funds between cards in same account?

You can transfer funds through our website card.starbucks.com.hk or download our mobile app and through it you will also be able to transfer funds within the same account.

Can I transfer to or from a non-registered card?

Sorry, you can transfer funds to or from a registered card with the same account only.

Can I transfer my earned rewards to my friends?

Once you become a Gold Level member, you can transfer your earned rewards to your friend who is a member of Starbucks Rewards™ through our website Starbucks.com.hk/card or download our mobile app.

Once your reward is transferred, you and your friend will receive a notification through the registered email and mobile app inbox message. The reward will be shown in "My Rewards" section of your friend's Starbucks account.

Why can’t I update the Starbucks® Hong Kong app to the latest version on my iPhone?

If you are an existing user of the Starbucks® Hong Kong app (iOS version) and you cannot update the app to the latest version automatically, simply uninstall the existing app and download the latest version from the App Store to discover the new features.

PART ONE: STARBUCKS CARD GENERAL TERMS

About Your Account; Starbucks Purchases Only
The Starbucks Card is issued to you by Coffee Concepts (Hong Kong) Limited (“Starbucks” or “we” or “us”). It allows you to load a monetary value on to your Starbucks Card for purchases at participating Starbucks stores. The Starbucks Card is to be treated like cash. It cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or destroyed unless you have registered it and reported the loss as described below. The monetary value that you, as a Starbucks customer, load onto your Starbucks Card is a pre-payment for the goods and services of participating Starbucks stores only. No credit card, credit line, overdraft protection or deposit account is associated with a Starbucks Card. No interest, dividends or any other earnings on funds loaded on to a Starbucks Card will accrue or be paid or credited to you by Starbucks. The value associated with the Starbucks Card is not insured or guaranteed by any person or entity.


Your Starbucks Card is valid for use only at participating Starbucks® stores in Hong Kong and Macau. We reserve the right not to accept any Starbucks Card or otherwise limit use of a Starbucks Card if we reasonably believe that the use is unauthorised, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful.


You may purchase a physical Starbucks Card by using a credit card or cash by visiting any participating Starbucks store. You may also purchase a virtual Starbucks Card by using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard) online at our mobile application, or by other means or channel(s) as we may designate from time to time. For the purpose of this Agreement, Starbuck Card means both physical and virtual Starbucks Card.


Loading Value on Your Card
In Hong Kong, you can load value onto a Starbucks Card by using a credit card or cash by visiting any participating store. You may also top up an existing Starbucks Card by using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard) online at our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk or at our mobile application, or by other means as we may designate from time to time. If you choose to top up your Starbucks Card online, any personal data which you provide to us in order to do so will be held pursuant to Starbucks Privacy Policy (For details of the Starbucks Privacy Policy, please check www.starbucks.com.hk) and by proceeding with the topping up facility, you will be agreeing to this arrangement.


The value of your Starbucks Card is subject to the following load limits: a maximum value of HK$4,000 may be stored on any Starbucks Card at any given time, and the minimum amount that can be loaded is HK$50 and increasing in denominations of HK$50. Starbucks may change these maximum and minimum amounts at any time by notifying you at the point of sale or on the Starbucks web site and such change shall not constitute and will not require an amendment to this Agreement.


Amounts loaded, and subsequently topped up, onto a Starbucks Card are held and denominated in the currency of the market in which it was initially issued regardless of the currency used to load the Card. When adding value to your Starbucks Card or using it to make a purchase outside of the market in which it was issued or purchased, foreign currency conversion calculations are based on exchange rates published daily by Bloomberg. No fees or other charges are assessed to your Starbucks Card for the conversion. When using your Starbucks Card outside of the market in which it was issued or purchased, the balance shown on your receipt at the point of sale will be in the domestic currency of the store location you are visiting.


Starbucks Card eGifts
The Starbucks Card eGift program allows you to purchase and send a virtual Starbucks Card via email. You may choose the design and any dollar value between HK$50 and HK$1,000 and complete your purchase using a credit card online at our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk or at our mobile application. You will need the email address for the recipient of your eGift.


The recipient of your eGift will receive an email notifying them that they have received an eGift from you. He or she will have the option of printing out the eGift and bringing it into a participating Starbucks store to make a purchase or applying it to an existing Starbucks Card registered in the recipient’s Starbucks Card account. The recipient will also have the option to register the eGift for use with our mobile application. You will receive an email confirming the recipient’s receipt of your eGift when the eGift is opened.


Starbucks Card eGift is exactly like any other Starbucks Card and should be treated like cash by the recipient. Each eGift has a unique Starbucks Card number and only one card associated with it no matter how many times the email is printed out. eGift printouts should be kept in safe place against unauthorized use. If an eGift is registered with us, the eGift may be entitled to the balance protection following the requirements set out in the Section “Optional Registration; Liability for Unauthorised Transactions”.


Fees and Expiry Date
Starbucks does not charge any fees for the issuance, activation, use or reloading of your Starbucks Card unless otherwise stated.


Your Starbucks Card balance will expire three years after the date of the last transaction. Any remaining balances on Starbucks Cards that have not been used for any transactions within a three-year time period will be forfeited immediately and without further notice. For the avoidance of doubt, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this agreement, any such remaining balance shall be non-refundable.


Receipts and Statements
Cardholders are not sent statements of itemised transactions from a Starbucks Card account. You can check the balance of your Starbucks Card or review the last ten recent transactions on your Starbucks Card on our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk, or on our mobile application or by calling (852) 2101-1399. When you use your Starbucks Card at a participating Starbucks store, you will receive a receipt if you request one but will not be asked to sign the receipt. The receipt will indicate that the purchase was made using a Starbucks Card and will provide the remaining balance of your Starbucks Card. You should keep your receipts and check your online statement to ensure that your account balance is correct.


Redemption
All reward benefits are valid only within their stipulated periods.


No Refund
In general, there will be no refund of the balance value on your Starbucks Card but you can use such value for purchases at the participating Starbucks stores.


Complaint Handling
We reserve the right to correct the balance of your Starbucks Card account if we believe that a clerical, billing or accounting error has occurred. If you have questions regarding your transaction history or any correction, or if you dispute any transaction or correction that has been assessed against your Starbucks Card, please contact our Customer Care Team by phone on (852) 2101-1399 and we will conduct an investigation and communicate the results and correct any error that we verify as soon as we finish the investigation. If no error was found, we will communicate an explanation. We will have no liability for any billing error unless you provide us notice within sixty (60) days of the date of the transaction in question. You should monitor your transactions and account balances closely.


Optional Registration; Liability for Unauthorised Transactions
Because your Starbucks Card stores value for purchases from Starbucks, you are responsible for all transactions associated with your Starbucks Card, including unauthorised transactions. However, if your Starbucks Card is lost, stolen or destroyed, the card can be replaced with the balance remaining on it at the time of your call, but only if you have registered the card with us. To register your Starbucks Card, please visit our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk. You may also register your Starbucks Card through our mobile application. Please notify us immediately if you change any of your registration information. Personal Information which you provide to us for purposes of registering your Starbucks Card will be held pursuant to Starbucks Privacy Policy (For details of Starbucks Privacy Policy, please check www.starbucks.com.hk). If your registered Starbucks Card is lost, stolen or damaged, you should contact us immediately at (852) 2101-1399. Your Starbucks Card balance is only protected from the point in time that you notify us that the Card is lost, stolen or damaged. We will freeze the remaining balance on your Starbucks Card at the time you notify us and will load that remaining balance on your replacement Starbucks Card.

 

PART ONE: STARBUCKS CARD GENERAL TERMS

Changes to This Agreement

We may amend the terms of this Agreement at any time for security, legal, regulatory or valid business reasons. We will post the amendments to the terms of this Agreement on our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk and notify you of such changes. Subject to the remainder of this clause, any change, addition or deletion will become effective at the time we post the revised Agreement to our web site or in our stores or as otherwise stated in our notice to you. Unless we state otherwise, the change, addition or deletion will apply to your future and existing Starbucks Cards. The amended terms will apply to you if (1) you do not notify us in writing to the contrary within twenty (20) days of the date of our notice (or such other reasonable period of time as specified in our notice to you), or (2) you use your Starbucks Card after such twenty (20) day notice period. If you do not accept the changes, additions or deletions, your Starbucks Card will be cancelled and any amounts remaining on your Starbucks Card will be refunded to you.

Cancellation of This Agreement

We may suspend or terminate this Agreement at any time by giving you reasonable prior notice. We need not, however, give you notice where we have serious grounds for considering that immediate termination is required (e.g. if we reasonably suspect fraudulent or unauthorised use of the Starbucks Card). If we terminate this Agreement in circumstances where it is determined you are not in breach of this Agreement, we will refund or issue stored credits equal to the balance held in your Starbucks Card account less any amounts that you owe us. In the event that this Agreement is terminated, this Part Two shall continue to apply as between us in respect of anything either of us did whilst this Agreement was in force.

Legal Age

If you are under 18 or considered as underage by law or do not have the ability to make a contract or are unable to bear any legal responsibility, and when registering or using your Starbucks Card would give rise to legal obligation or responsibilities, you must seek the approval of your parent or guardian regarding the legal implications of these Terms of Use and the consequences that entail. Starbucks assumes that you are of legal age or have obtained the approval of your parent or guardian.

Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.

Disclaimers and Limits of Liability

Starbucks does not represent or warrant that your Starbucks Card will always be accessible or accepted at participating Starbucks stores.

In the event that Starbucks is held liable to you under this Agreement, you will be entitled to recover from us your actual damages, up to the last balance held on your Starbucks Card in question. Starbucks will not be liable to you for:

  • any loss of income, business, goodwill or profits arising out of this Agreement;
  • any unauthorised access to or alteration, theft or destruction of your Starbucks Card;
  • the consequences of any delay or mistake relating to the use of your Starbucks Card caused by any circumstances beyond our control;
  • any loss or damage which was not caused by our breach of this Agreement or breach of our legal duty of care;
  • any loss or damage which was not a reasonably foreseeable result of either our breach of this Agreement or breach of our legal duty of care. Loss or damage is "reasonably foreseeable" if, at the time we entered into this Agreement, such loss was contemplated by you and by us; or
  • any loss or damage suffered by you as a result of you failing to take reasonable precautions against such loss or damage.

This Agreement does not affect your statutory rights and must be read subject to those rights. If you require more information on your statutory rights you should contact a lawyer.

Assignment

We may transfer all or part of this Agreement without such transfer being considered a change to the Agreement, by giving notice to you. The company or other entity to whom we transfer this Agreement will have the same rights and obligations as we did before the transfer and we will ensure that it agrees in writing to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement so that your rights under this Agreement are not detrimentally affected and we will then be released from all liability.

Entire Agreement; Construction

All correspondence entered into under this Agreement will be in the English language. This Agreement is the complete and exclusive statement of agreement between you and Coffee Concepts (Hong Kong) Limited, an authorised licensee of Starbucks in Hong Kong, and supersedes all prior proposals and all other agreements in respect of the subject matter of this Agreement. If any provision of this Agreement is illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be deleted from this Agreement, and the remaining terms will not be affected. Headings are for convenience of reference only and will in no way affect interpretation of this Agreement. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions of this Agreement, the English version shall prevail.

The Starbucks Card is issued to you by Coffee Concepts (Macau) Limited (“Starbucks” or “we” or “us”) It allows you to load a monetary value on to your Starbucks Card for purchases at participating Starbucks stores, which is regarded as your entering into a prepaid contract  with us under the Consumer Rights and Interests Protection Law of Macau (“CPL”). The Starbucks Card is to be treated like cash. It cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or destroyed unless you have registered it and reported the loss as described below. The monetary value that you, as a Starbucks customer, load onto your Starbucks Card is a pre-payment for the goods and services of participating Starbucks stores only. No credit card, credit line, overdraft protection or deposit account is associated with a Starbucks Card. No interest, dividends or any other earnings on funds loaded on to a Starbucks Card will accrue or be paid or credited to you by Starbucks. The value associated with the Starbucks Card is not insured or guaranteed by any person or entity.

Your Starbucks Card is valid for use only at participating Starbucks® stores in Hong Kong and Macau. We reserve the right not to accept any Starbucks Card or otherwise limit use of a Starbucks Card if we reasonably believe that the use is unauthorised, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful.

You may purchase a Starbucks Card by using a credit card or cash by visiting any participating Starbucks store. You may also purchase a virtual Starbucks Card by using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard) online at our mobile application, or by other means as we may designate from time to time.

 

Loading Value on Your Card

In Macau, you can load value onto a Starbucks Card by using a credit card or cash by visiting any participating store. You may also top up an existing Starbucks Card by using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard) online at our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk or at our mobile application, or by other means as we may designate from time to time. If you choose to top up your Starbucks Card online, any personal data which you provide to us in order to do so will be held pursuant to Starbucks Privacy Policy (For details of the Starbucks Privacy Policy, please check www.starbucks.com.hk) and by proceeding with the topping up facility, you will be agreeing to this arrangement.

The value of your Starbucks Card is subject to the following load limits: a maximum value of MOP4,000 may be stored on any Starbucks Card at any given time, and the minimum amount that can be loaded is MOP50 and increasing in denominations of MOP50. Subject to the load limit set out earlier, you are free to decide the amount of loading to your Starbucks Card. Starbucks may change these maximum and minimum amounts at any time by notifying you at the point of sale or on the Starbucks web site and such change shall not constitute and will not require an amendment to this Agreement.

Amounts loaded, and subsequently topped up, onto a Starbucks Card are held and denominated in the currency of the market in which it was initially issued regardless of the currency used to load the Card. When adding value to your Starbucks Card or using it to make a purchase outside of the market in which it was issued or purchased, foreign currency conversion calculations are based on exchange rates published daily by Bloomberg. No fees or other charges are assessed to your Starbucks Card for the conversion. When using your Starbucks Card outside of the market in which it was issued or purchased, the balance shown on your receipt at the point of sale will be in the domestic currency of the store location you are visiting.

Starbucks Card eGifts

The Starbucks Card eGift program allows you to purchase and send a virtual Starbucks Card via email. You may choose the design and any dollar value between MOP$50 and MOP$1,000 and complete your purchase using a credit card online at our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk or at our mobile application. You will need the email address for the recipient of your eGift.

The recipient of your eGift will receive an email notifying them that they have received an eGift from you. He or she will have the option of printing out the eGift and bringing it into a participating Starbucks store to make a purchase or applying it to an existing Starbucks Card registered in the recipient’s Starbucks Card account. The recipient will also have the option to register the eGift for use with Starbucks mobile applications. You will receive an email confirming the recipient’s receipt of your eGift when the eGift is opened.

An eGift is exactly like any other Starbucks Card and should be treated like cash by the recipient. Each eGift has a unique Starbucks Card number and only one card associated with it no matter how many times the email is printed out. eGift printouts should be kept in safe place against unauthorized use. If an eGift is registered with us, the eGift may also be entitled to the balance protection following the requirements set out in the Section “Optional Registration; Liability for Unauthorised Transactions”.

Fees and Expiry Date

Starbucks does not charge any fees for the issuance, activation, use or reloading of your Starbucks Card unless otherwise stated.

Your Starbucks Card balance will expire three years after the date of the last transaction, activation or loading of your Starbucks Cards (whichever is earlier), which is regarded as unilateral termination of this contract by you. Any remaining balances on Starbucks Cards that have not been used for any transactions within the said three-year time period will be forfeited immediately and without further notice. For the avoidance of doubt, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this agreement, any such remaining balance shall be non-refundable.

Receipts and Statements

Cardholders are not sent statements of itemised transactions from a Starbucks Card account. You can check the balance of your Starbucks Card or review the last ten recent transactions on your Starbucks Card on our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk, or on our mobile application or by calling 0800933. When you use your Starbucks Card at a participating Starbucks store, you will receive a receipt if you request one but will not be asked to sign the receipt. The receipt will indicate that the purchase was made using a Starbucks Card and will provide the remaining balance of your Starbucks Card. You should keep your receipts and check your online statement to ensure that your account balance is correct.

Redemption

All reward benefits are valid only within their stipulated periods.

No Refund

In general, there will be no refund of the balance value on your Starbucks Card but you can use such value for purchases at the participating stores.  For the avoidance of doubt, you are NOT entitled to exercise the right of “free termination of contract” pursuant to Article 57 of CPL under this Agreement, since this Agreement is a catering contract with a definite term of performance under Article 65/1/IX of CPL.

Complaint Handling

We reserve the right to correct the balance of your Starbucks Card account if we believe that a clerical, billing or accounting error has occurred. If you have questions regarding your transaction history or any correction, or if you dispute any transaction or correction that has been assessed against your Starbucks Card, please contact our Customer Care Team by phone on 0800933 and we will conduct an investigation and communicate the results and correct any error that we verify as soon as we finish the investigation. If no error was found, we will communicate an explanation. We will have no liability for any billing error unless you provide us notice within sixty (60) days of the date of the transaction in question. You should monitor your transactions and account balances closely.

Optional Registration; Liability for Unauthorised Transactions

Because your Starbucks Card stores value for purchases from Starbucks, you are responsible for all transactions associated with your Starbucks Card, including unauthorised transactions. However, if your Starbucks Card is lost, stolen or destroyed, the card can be replaced with the balance remaining on it at the time of your call, but only if you have registered the card with us. To register your Starbucks Card, please visit our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk. You may also register your Starbucks Card through our mobile application. Please notify us immediately if you change any of your registration information. Personal Information which you provide to us for purposes of registering your Starbucks Card will be held pursuant to Starbucks Privacy Policy (For details of Starbucks Privacy Policy, please check www.starbucks.com.hk). If your registered Starbucks Card is lost, stolen or damaged, you should contact us immediately at 0800933. Your Starbucks Card balance is only protected from the point in time that you notify us that the Card is lost, stolen or damaged. We will freeze the remaining balance on your Starbucks Card at the time you notify us and will load that remaining balance on your replacement Starbucks Card.

 

PART TWO: IMPORTANT LEGAL TERMS

Changes to This Agreement

We may amend the terms of this Agreement at any time for security, legal, regulatory or valid business reasons. We will post the amendments to the terms of this Agreement on our web site at www.starbucks.com.hk and notify you of such changes. Subject to the remainder of this clause, any change, addition or deletion will become effective at the time we post the revised Agreement to our web site or in our stores or as otherwise stated in our notice to you. Unless we state otherwise, the change, addition or deletion will apply to your future and existing Starbucks Cards. The amended terms will apply to you if (1) you do not notify us in writing to the contrary within twenty (20) days of the date of our notice (or such other reasonable period of time as specified in our notice to you), or (2) you use your Starbucks Card after such twenty (20) day notice period. If you do not accept the changes, additions or deletions, your Starbucks Card will be cancelled and any amounts remaining on your Starbucks Card will be refunded.

Cancellation of This Agreement

We may suspend or terminate this Agreement at any time by giving you reasonable prior notice. We need not, however, give you notice where we have serious grounds for considering that immediate termination is required (e.g. if we reasonably suspect fraudulent or unauthorised use of the Starbucks Card). If we terminate this Agreement in circumstances where it is determined you are not in breach of this Agreement, we will refund or issue stored credits equal to the balance held in your Starbucks Card account less any amounts that you owe us. In the event that this Agreement is terminated, this Part Two shall continue to apply as between us in respect of anything either of us did whilst this Agreement was in force.

Legal Age

If you are under 18 or considered as underage by law or do not have the ability to make a contract or are unable to bear any legal responsibility, and when registering or using your Starbucks Card would give rise to legal obligation or responsibilities, you must seek the approval of your parent or guardian regarding the legal implications of these Terms of Use and the consequences that entail. Starbucks assumes that you are of legal age or have obtained the approval of your parent or guardian.

Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.

Disclaimers and Limits of Liability

Starbucks does not represent or warrant that your Starbucks Card will always be accessible or accepted at participating Starbucks stores.

In the event that Starbucks is held liable to you under this Agreement, you will be entitled to recover from us your actual damages, up to the last balance held on your Starbucks Card in question. Starbucks will not be liable to you for:

  • any loss of income, business, goodwill or profits arising out of this Agreement;
  • any unauthorised access to or alteration, theft or destruction of your Starbucks Card;
  • the consequences of any delay or mistake relating to the use of your Starbucks Card caused by any circumstances beyond our control;
  • any loss or damage which was not caused by our breach of this Agreement or breach of our legal duty of care;
  • any loss or damage which was not a reasonably foreseeable result of either our breach of this Agreement or breach of our legal duty of care. Loss or damage is "reasonably foreseeable" if, at the time we entered into this Agreement, such loss was contemplated by you and by us; or
  • any loss or damage suffered by you as a result of you failing to take reasonable precautions against such loss or damage.

This Agreement does not affect your statutory rights and must be read subject to those rights. If you require more information on your statutory rights you should contact a lawyer.

Assignment

We may transfer all or part of this Agreement without such transfer being considered a change to the Agreement, by giving notice to you. The company or other entity to whom we transfer this Agreement will have the same rights and obligations as we did before the transfer and we will ensure that it agrees in writing to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement so that your rights under this Agreement are not detrimentally affected and we will then be released from all liability.

Entire Agreement; Construction

This Agreement shall be effective on the activation or loading of the Starbucks Card, whichever is earlier. All correspondence entered into under this Agreement will be in the English language. This Agreement is the complete and exclusive statement of agreement between you and Coffee Concepts (Macau) Limited, an authorised licensee of Starbucks in Macau, and supersedes all prior proposals and all other agreements in respect of the subject matter of this Agreement. If any provision of this Agreement is illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be deleted from this Agreement, and the remaining terms will not be affected. Headings are for convenience of reference only and will in no way affect interpretation of this Agreement. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions of this Agreement, the English version shall prevail.

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF USE FOR STARBUCKS REWARDS™ PROGRAM CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING THIS PROMOTIONAL PROGRAM, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS DESCRIBED HEREIN AND ALL TERMS INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THESE TERMS, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM.

These Terms of Use apply to your access to, and participation in, the Starbucks Rewards™ program (“Starbucks Rewards™”) which is operated by Coffee Concepts (Hong Kong) Ltd. and Coffee Concepts (Macau) Ltd. (collectively, “Starbucks”), the licensees of Starbucks Corporation in Hong Kong and Macau. These Terms of Use do not alter in any way the terms or conditions of any other agreement you may have with Starbucks for products, services or otherwise. Starbucks reserves the right to change, modify and/or terminate the Starbucks Rewards™ and/or these Terms of Use or any policy, FAQ, or guideline pertaining to Starbucks Rewards™ at any time and in its sole discretion. Any changes or modifications will be effective immediately upon posting the revisions to www.starbucks.com.hk (“Website”), and you waive any right you may have to receive specific notice of such changes or modifications. Your participation in the Starbucks Rewards™ confirms your acceptance of these Terms of Use and any such changes or modifications; therefore, you should review these Terms of Use and applicable policies from time to time to understand the terms and conditions that apply to Starbucks Rewards™. Starbucks Rewards™ Program

Program Overview

Starbucks Rewards™ is one way in which Starbucks endeavors to reward and thank loyal customers for patronizing at Starbucks Coffee stores. To enroll in Starbucks Rewards™ and receive program benefits, you will first need to create a “Starbucks Card” account at Starbucks.com.hk/Card or with the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile application distributed by Starbucks in Hong Kong and Macau (“Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app”) and then activate and register at least one (1) Hong Kong or Macau activated Starbucks Card to your account. “Starbucks Card” activated in Hong Kong or Macau may include physical Starbucks branded plastic cards that are available and activated in participating Starbucks stores in Hong Kong or Macau and digital forms of the physical cards through Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app. “Activation” means that you have loaded a minimum of HKD50 / MOP50 onto your Starbucks Card for the first time. You can register any Starbucks Card activated in either Hong Kong or Macau to your account at Starbucks.com.hk/Card or through the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app.

The registration process may require that you provide the following information using the online registration form: username, password, email address (required in order to receive all eligible Rewards), Starbucks Card number, and card security code (CSC), birthday month, name, physical address, and mobile number. All of your Starbucks Cards activated in Hong Kong or Macau can be registered for use in Starbucks Rewards™ under these Terms of Use. For ease of reference, in these Terms of Use, the term “Starbucks Card” refers to a Starbucks Card that may be activated in Hong Kong or Macau only, and the term “activated, registered Starbucks Card” refers to a Starbucks Card that has been activated in Hong Kong or Macau and registered to your Starbucks Card account at Starbucks.com.hk/Card or through the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app.

Starbucks Rewards™ benefits are determined based on the amount of “spending” you made and the number of “Stars” that you earned through your spending with your activated, registered Starbucks Card(s). A “Star” for purposes of Starbucks Rewards™ means each time you use your activated, registered Starbucks Card to pay for a transaction at a participating Starbucks store in Hong Kong/Macau only. No “Star” will be rewarded for purchases with an activated, registered Starbucks Card in any Starbucks store outside Hong Kong or Macau or for purchases of Starbucks eGift. For each qualified purchase, you will receive one (1) “Star” for each HKD20 spent in Hong Kong or each MOP20 spent in Macau, except during limited time promotions when Starbucks may offer “Bonus Stars” on featured products and/or services. Stars are for promotional purposes only and have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash. You can use any activated, registered Starbucks Card to earn Stars for your spending. Please note that spending will only be calculated and Stars accumulated after the activated Starbucks Card is registered at Starbucks.com.hk/Card or through the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app.

Currently, there are three (3) levels of benefits in Starbucks Rewards™ which are determined by the number of Stars that you accumulate in your account. By opening an account, and activating and registering a Starbucks Card, you will be automatically enrolled in Starbucks Rewards™ at the Welcome Level. Earn at least twenty- five (25) Stars within the twelve (12) months’ period following your enrollment date and you will proceed to the Green Level. If you earn at least one hundred (100) Stars within the 12 months’ period following your enrollment date, you will qualify for the Gold Level.

Once you reached a specific Level within Starbucks Rewards™, you will receive the benefits that are applicable to that Level only. However, you must continue to accumulate Stars in order to maintain your benefit level:

  • To maintain the Welcome Level, you only need to register your activated Starbucks Card at Starbucks.com.hk/Card or through the Starbucks Hong Kong’s mobile app.
  • To maintain the Green Level, you must earn at least twenty- five (25) new Stars during each consecutive 12 months’ period following the date you reached the Green Level. If you do not obtain 25 Stars in 12 months, you will be placed at the Welcome Level of Starbucks Rewards™ and your Star balance will revert to zero.
  • To maintain the Gold Level, you must earn at least one hundred (100) new Stars during each consecutive 12 months’ eriod following the date you reached the Gold Level. If you do not obtain 100 Stars in 12 months, you will be placed at the Green Level of Starbucks Rewards™ and your Star balance will revert to zero.

Please note that “Stars” accumulated for each level will only be valid for twelve (12) months from the date when you reached the particular level. For example: You activate your Starbucks Card at a participating Starbucks store on May 2, 2015 by loading HKD100 MOP100 onto the Starbucks Card. You register that Starbucks Card on June 1, 2015. Your spending will only be considered as qualified purchase from June 1, 2015 when you can start earning Stars. If you earn 25 Stars on June 15, 2015, you will be placed on Green Level and entitled to Green Level benefits and your entitlement to Green Level benefits will expire on June 14, 2016. On June 15, 2016, your Stars balance will revert to 0. However, if you have accumulated 50 Stars between June 15, 2015 to June 14, 2016 earning the required number of Stars to maintain your Green Level, you will automatically be placed at Green Level and entitled to the various Green Level benefits for the 12 months’ period between June 15, 2016 and June 14, 2017 but your Stars balance will be zero.

Welcome Level

By opening an account, activating and registering your Starbucks Card, you will automatically enter into the “Welcome Level” of Starbucks Rewards™. Benefits may include:

  • One (1) Buy-One-Get-One on tall or above-sized handcrafted beverage upon registration.

 

Your Buy-One-Get-One reward will be automatically loaded onto your account upon registration of the first Starbucks Card under your account, and will be available to you for three (3) months. The offer for the Buy-One-Get-One reward expires after three (3) months. You must present your first registered Starbucks Card to the barista at a participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks store in order to receive your reward. You can view and track your available rewards (“Rewards”) on Starbuck.com.hk/Card or using the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app. You will receive only one Welcome reward throughout the entire period of your participation in Starbucks Reward™ regardless of the number of Starbucks Cards that you have registered to your account. You will no longer receive the Welcome Level benefits after you advance to the Green Level or Gold Level and are placed at the Welcome Level again for any reason.

The Buy-One-Get-One reward may be redeemed at participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks stores only, and the Buy-One-Get-One reward is not available to ready-to-drink bottled beverages.

  • One (1) free upgrade on one promotional beverage:

 

This benefit is only available when Starbucks launches a promotional beverage. You may use any of your registered Starbucks Cards to purchase a tall or above-sized promotional beverage to enjoy free upgrade (to the next larger size) during the first week of its launch. You must present your registered Starbucks Card to the barista at a participating Hong Kong/Macau Starbucks store in order to redeem your free upgrade on promotional beverage. You can view and track your available Rewards on Starbucks.com.hk/Card or using the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app. The free upgrade on promotional beverage may be redeemed at participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks stores only.

Green Level

After having accumulated twenty- five (25) Stars in a 12 months’ period, you advance from the Welcome Level to the “Green Level” of Starbucks Rewards™. During each 12 months’ period when you reached and/or maintained the Green Level, the benefits for Green Level may include:

  • Welcome Level benefits if you have not redeemed such benefits before you advance to Green Level, provided that you must redeem such benefits within three (3) months from the date you registered your Starbucks Card. Welcome Level benefits is only available once in the entire period of your participation in Starbucks Reward™.
  • One (1) free tall size drink once you reached Green Level:

Your choice of one (1) complimentary tall size drink once you reached Green Level. Your complimentary tall size drink reward will be automatically loaded onto your account when you reached Green Level and will be available to you for three (3) months. The offer for the free beverage expires after three (3) months. You must present any of your registered Starbucks Cards to the barista at a participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks store in order to redeem your complimentary tall size drink. You can also view and track your available Rewards on Starbucks.com.hk/Card or using the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app. You will receive only one (1) complimentary tall size drink reward when you reached Green Level regardless of the number of Starbucks Cards that you have registered to your account.

Your complimentary birthday item will be automatically loaded onto your account and will be available to you for your birthday month. The offer for the free beverage or slice of cake item expires after your birthday month. You must present any of your registered Starbucks Cards to the barista at a participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks store in order to redeem your complimentary birthday item. You can view and track your available Rewards on Starbucks.com.hk/Card or using the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app. You will receive only one (1) complimentary birthday item regardless of the number of Starbucks Cards that you have registered to your account.

The complimentary birthday item may be redeemed at participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks stores only, and ready-to-drink bottled beverages is not available for redemption.

  • One (1) free extra espresso shot on any espresso drink purchase

This benefit is only available when you use any of your registered Starbucks Cards to purchase any espresso drink. You must present your registered Starbucks Card to the barista at a participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks store in order to redeem your free extra espresso shot.

Gold Level

After having accumulated one hundred (100) Stars in a 12 months’ period, you achieve the “Gold Level.” During each 12 months’ period when you reached and/or maintained the Gold Level, the benefits for Gold Level may include:

  • Welcome Level benefits if you have not redeemed such benefit before you advance to Gold Level, provided that you must redeem such benefit within three (3) months from the date you registered your Starbucks Card. Welcome Level benefits is only available once in the entire period of your participation in Starbucks Reward™.
  • Green Level benefits if you have not redeemed such benefit before you advance to Gold Level, provided that you must redeem such benefit within the required period.
  • One (1) free tall size drink once you reached Gold Level:

Your choice of one (1) complimentary tall size drink once you reached Gold level.

Your complimentary tall size drink reward will be automatically loaded onto your account when you reached Gold level and will be available to you for three (3) months. The offer for the free beverage expires after three (3) months. You must present any of your registered Starbucks Cards to the barista at a participating Hong Kong / Macau Starbucks store in order to redeem your complimentary tall size drink. You can also view and track your available Rewards on Starbucks.com.hk/Card or using the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app. You will receive only one (1) complimentary tall size drink reward when you reached Gold Level regardless of the number of Starbucks Cards that you have registered to your account.

  • Additional personalized offers: Additional personalized offers may be distributed by email or physical mail, so you must opt-in to receive promotional and marketing email offers from Starbucks and provide a valid email or physical mailing address in order to receive them.
  • One (1) free tall size drink or one (1) selected food item for every 25 Stars earned:

    Once you reached the Gold Level, you will earn one (1) free tall sized beverage item or a selected food item for every 25 Stars earned. You may choose one (1) complimentary handcrafted beverage or one (1) complimentary selected food item. Your complimentary item will be automatically loaded onto your account and will be available to you for three (3) months. This offer for the free beverage or free food item expires after three (3) months. You must present any of your registered Starbucks Cards to the barista at a participating Hong Kong/Macau Starbucks store in order to redeem your complimentary item. You can view and track your available Rewards on Starbucks.com.hk/Card or by using the Starbucks Hong Kong mobile app. You will receive only one (1) complimentary item on every twelve (12) drinks purchase regardless of the number of Starbucks Cards that you have registered to your account.

The complimentary item may be redeemed at participating Hong Kong/Macau Starbucks stores only, and ready-to-drink bottled beverages is not available for redemption.

  • Transfer Rewards to your family, friends or others. As a Gold member, you may transfer any of your outstanding Rewards in your Starbucks Card account as shown in the Rewards section in our Starbucks Hong Kong website at www.starbucks.com.hk/Card or in the Rewards section in our Starbucks Hong Kong mobile apps to one of your family members, friends or others by using the Rewards transfer function on our website or mobile apps. You may transfer a Reward only to a recipient who has already registered as a member under Starbucks RewardsTM on our website or mobile apps. To redeem the transferred Reward, the recipient must present his/her registered Starbucks Card under Starbucks RewardsTM to the barista at a participating Hong Kong/Macau Starbucks store. Each Reward has an expiry date for redemption. If the Reward is not redeemed by the prescribed expiry date, it will expire.

Miscellaneous

These Terms of Use complement and incorporate by reference the Starbucks Card Terms & Conditions. In the event of any conflict between the Starbucks Card Terms & Conditions and these Terms of Use, the Starbucks Card Terms & Conditions control.

There are no membership fees associated with Starbucks Rewards™. Stars,Rewards and benefits accumulated under the program are promotional, have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash.

Starbucks may introduce promotion programmes relating to Starbucks Rewards™ whereby these Terms of Use may be varied as applicable to such programmes.

Your Stars, Rewards, benefits, registered Starbucks Card(s), and your account under Starbucks Rewards™ are personal to you, and except expressly permitted under these Terms of Use or the rules of a promotional programme, may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with family, friends or others or used by you for any commercial purpose.

Without notice to you, Starbucks reserves the right to withdraw, cancel or revoke any Star, Reward, or benefit, or suspend any Starbucks Card registered to your account, and/or suspend or terminate your account and/or your participation in Starbucks Rewards™, if Starbucks determines in its sole discretion that you have violated these Terms of Use, or that the use of your account is unauthorized, deceptive, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful. In the event that your participation in Starbucks Rewards is terminated, all accrued Stars, Rewards and benefits in your account are void.

Without notice to you, Starbucks also reserves the right to “unregister” and make ineligible for Starbucks Rewards™ any Starbucks Card that has been inactive for two (2) consecutive years. Inactive is defined as no purchase activity. In the event that your Starbucks Card or account is unregistered or rendered inactive, all accrued Stars, Rewards and benefits in your account are void.

Starbucks reserves the right to terminate, discontinue, modify or cancel Starbucks Rewards™ or any part of the Starbucks Rewards program, at any time and in its sole discretion without notice to you.
